I have always been a cat lover and spent thirty-five years as a
rescuer. My specialties were physical rehabilitation and
behavioral modification.
There is much hard work and heartbreak
in rescue. For me, the greatest challenges and rewards were in
taking an animal who had lost its' trust in people through
abuse...and bringing it back to what it should be...a creature
capable of loving and being loved. To this day, I believe there
are very few truly bad or unredeemable animals...but far too many
whose lives would have been happier if they had been the right
animals for the right owners. A good match between owner and pet
can make the difference between a lifetime of happiness or a very
sad situation for all involved. As a breeder, making that kind of
match between my kittens and their prospective parents is
extremely important to me. I want my cats to have what those I rescued did not...a happy, forever, first home.
Almost 20 years ago, I discovered Ragdolls in print ads in cat
magazines. The beauty and personality of this breed fascinated
me. Although my free time was filled with working with special
needs rescues, Ragdolls were always in the back of my mind. After
a move to another state, my volume of new rescue cases decreased.
Eventually, My research started in earnest and I spent years
pouring over everything I could learn about them.
The day finally arrived when, like you, I was ready for my first Ragdoll. And what a Ragdoll he was!
The most impossibly fluffy Seal Bicolor I could imagine. His antics and expressive face made him irresistible.
I quickly learned that it's true...Ragdolls ARE like potato chips. I couldn't stop at just one.
Then I met the kitten who changed my life. A Blue Lynx Bicolor of
incredible beauty and sweetness. Every inch a little Angel...and
the Kitten of My Dreams. Looking at him, I knew I wanted to
breed.
I wanted to see the beauty of this boy continue...and
I wanted others to feel the same joy I found in him.
My Angel's homecoming was a complicated affair...a two state family
relay in the snow and ice of a bad nor'easter. As a result, my
Angel became Snow Angel...and the cattery he inspired was named
AngelDolls~AngelicDolls.
For me, the greatest privilege of breeding is being the person into
whose hands these precious babies are born. There is such joy in
watching them grow...seeing their eyes open...watching them take
their first toddling steps...and seeing the personalities emerge
that make each Ragdoll Kitten a unique individual. They are
nurtured from birth and treated as loved members of our family.
As in rescue, there is a lot of hard work and sacrifice in
breeding. But that is a small price to pay to be the person
blessed with those first precious months...and to see others feel
what I felt for Snow Angel when they hold their kitten.
The time has come for Snow to start the next phase of his life;
retirement as my beloved pet. He will no longer be the King of my
cattery...but always the King of my Heart...and my cat of a
lifetime. What I found in him will continue at AngelDolls through his sweet children.
My wish for you remains unchanged. May you find the Kitten of your
Dreams or the Cat of a Lifetime that adds as much joy to your
life as first my Angel, and then others, added to mine.
May you find what I did....
